We walked into daycare at the same time as one of The Mayor's teachers yesterday.
I asked her how he had been doing lately and she said, "Well... let's just say he's been having some trouble listening lately."
There has been virtually NO LISTENING at House of Joy so I was at least relieved to note that The Mayor treats all the City Council Representatives equally.
The teacher turned to look at him and asked,"Are you going to use your listening ears today?"
Assuming quite the official tone of voice, The Mayor replied,"I left my listening ears at home today, Ms. Lisa."
Whhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. The joys.

Oh man, you are really gonna be in trouble when he gets older.
...at least he's honest. I mean, if you forget your listening ears, what is a boy to do?
Hahaha - Gotta love honesty! Smart kid.
You didn't immediately pipe up with "I thought you said you left them at school?"
That would have been my MO.
Now, I don't know how you are about threats, but if you have read some of my recent posts about Queens, peasantfolk and beheading, you know I would have said, "Best check your back pocket for those listening ears or my spanking hand might check for you".........
"Listening ears" WTF? I think I'd leave mine at home to if someone talked to me that way. Really, sometimes childcare-speak makes me queasy.
That boy is just full of great comebacks. I would have been speechless just from the shock... Can I hire him to come up with some for me to use?
(And I love Iris' comment above!)
And The Mayor also apparently forgot just where he left them at home? :)
Yeah, I am thinking, at least he's honest.
What ears did he bring with him that day? The one's that just sit there & look pretty? *lol*
Oh Dear....he sounds just like my Lauren. You do realize that you're in for it don't you?
..and The Mayor has my vote.
That was great.
HA. sounds like The Mayor has his teacher's number.
The kid WILL be mayor one day.
i love it.
Imagine if he said to the teacher, why, did you leave your Midol at home?
Boys are more work when they're younger. It'll come in handy when he's older and kids are like, "hey let's flame" and he can be like "I left my listening years at home".
My son was stubborn when he was young and he breezed thru teenhoood pressures. Now one of my daughters...is an "all ears" kinda person and it's been interesting!
Listening ears...what are those again? My kids have the "f*%k you and the horse you rode in on" ears.
*snort*
Quick on the draw, isn't he?
Welcome to my nightmare! Junior Mayhem was written up the other day at school. When I investigated further, I found out it was for kicking at his teacher and refusing to sit in time out! Does ANYONE wonder WHY Mr. Mayhem is getting a vasectomy next week?!
OMG, Queeniebadd.....my older kids definitely have some of those ears too!!!
I love your little hair flip thing you have going on!
Listening ears? Geez...what else would his ears do? Perhaps not talking down to him would help, Ms Daycare Teacher!
All I can say is ROTFLMAO! Out of the mouths of babes!! ;o) (I have two very sassy girls!)
I love that! I wish I could be that quick with a comeback - does The Mayor do lessons?
That is exactly the kind of thing I laugh out loud at when my friends' kids say them. Then I get hit.
I like him. He's good.
The Mayor will one day be running for president I am convinced.
I know I've posted this before, but fuck, I love the Mayor.
you know how to make a kid listen, right?
...just tell them there's a monster that lives under their bed that ONLY poses a threat to little children who don't do what they're told.
...and if they don't beleive you, wait underneith and scare the shit out of them some night.
it's a good thing i'm not a parent, i think.
I too have been talked to by teachers regarding my son's listening skills or should I say ignoring skills. It's hard not to take it personally ... Hell, I took it personally. Who am I kidding? I met with the teacher to find out ways we could work together to get him moving in the right direction. Not so fun. He listens to his teacher much better now but recently had to write "I will not say no to mommy" five times in a row on a piece of paper. I mean.
The Mayor is in charge. And he definitely has a future in politics. ;)
Love the picture.
I LOVE the Mayor!
Good on him.
You look like the perfect mom in this photo! So cute.
Hope that Mayor is listening better today.
