Linking Towards Labor Day

Today, in honor of The Worker, I have toiled away and given myself a sore finger through extensive linkage.

Let the links begin...

Cathy from Arkie Mama thinks I'm nice and so do Lori and Slouching Mom!!!!

My mom and Granny are rolling their eyes and saying,

"Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis"

[Because that is how my Granny and my mom talk.]

Both Arkie Mama and Slouching Mom gave me this award for niceness.

Ain't it purdy?!

As much as I like it, I was excited when Kyla from The Journey said I was nice for being The Nominatrix because she gave me this mo' sexy nice award made by Jana from Something Baby Blue.

[Jana is one of those Canadians and they are not only nice, they are HOT AND BOTHERED.]

You know what the best thing is about getting blog awards?

Passing them on, baby.

Because I got four niceness awards, I am going to pass them on with wild abandon.

Because I can.

And so... Nice? You want nice? Here's a whole bunch of nice people...

Alien in a Foreign Field; Because I must blog; Beta Mom; Biddy's World; BlondeMomBlog; Call Me Soccer Mom and Die; Cat's so called life; Chaos Control; Charlotta's got a lotta thoughts; Cheese Wiz and Mustard; claire and me; Come On Along; Corgi Feathers; Devilish Southern Belle; Don't Take the Repeats; Ellinetha; Fairly Odd Mother; Faking It; Fenicle; From The Frontlines; Fry Moments; Full Plate; Gaining Balance; Get In the Car; ImpostorMom; I'm No Belle; Jeanie in Paradise; Jenny Ha Ha; Magpie Musing; Mama en Fuego; Mama Milton; Mama's Moon; Mamma Loves... ; Marmite Breath Slept Here; McBlog; Michelle Smiles; Mom Wants A Diabetes Cure; momomax; Mrs. Incredible; My Life As An Officer's Wife; My Life | My Opinions | My Blog; My Tiny Kingdom; My Two Shews; Nothing Heavy; Omaha Mama; Outta The Coop; Painted Maypole; Playgroups are No Place For Childre; Poot and Cubby; PunditMom; Ranting Radish; Rimarama; Running in Wellies; Sayre Smiles; Serving the Queens; Southern Suds & Lather; Soy Is The New Black; Stepping Over the Junk; Stimeyland; Sugared Harpy; Sunny Daze; T.K.O.; Taste Like Crazy; Team Reddick; temporarily me; The Adventures of T & Super B; the house of h; The Kelson Krew; The Kids Are Alright; The Little Nut Tree; The Wonderwheel; The Z files; Third Times a Charm?; This is not a blog; tired mummy; Tulip Mom; Tumble Dry; urban-urchin; Using My Powers for Good; Wherever Ewe Go...; Who cries over spilled milk?; With Six You Get Eggroll; Wit's End; Woman with kids; YewNorkBabe; Yummy Sushi Pajamas; and Zone Family

Is that too many?

[Shaddup.]

Do you know how long it took me to do that? Have you seen my blogroll?

[I think I may have a linking problem.]

I can say as many people are nice as I want AND give them ALL a button. So there.

Besides...

They ARE all nice.

And now... [please imagine a nice, smooth seque here.]

Shannon from ZoKai tagged me for the
Seven Songs I've Been Singing Meme.

In Shannon's comments I confessed to feeling old and feeble because I hadn't been listening to much music or singing anything lately.

Though I never stop singing this:

"I like to go swimming,
SWIMMING!
With bow-legged wimmin,
WIMMIN!
Who swim... between...my legs!
Yada da da da!"

I don't think that's what she had in mind and ensuing feelings of lame-i-tude prompted me to open my file folder entitled, "Songs to Check Out" and actually do the checking out.

I went through my list one by one on iTunes and now Shannon owes me fifty dollars.

BUT... I do have some new songs to sing.

Technically I can't sing the first one. I heard this acoustic piece on Melanie's site, a song called
Drifting by Andy Mckee. [Melanie owes me ninety nine cents.]

Because of Mrs. Incredible and jen I had to buy Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez. [They can each give me fifty cents.]

I bought every, single track by Glen Hansard having just seen the film
Once. (If you click on the Once link the official website plays a number of the film's tracks in full. So lovely.)

I am a huge sucker for the singer / songwriter genre of music and have been enjoying What Was That by John Gorka.

I bought
"Pillows & Records," the title track from the album with the same name by Aidan Hawken and also Collide by Howie Day so that I can pretend I'm a pop superstar (who is really just loading the dishwasher).

[I sing
... My body is electric... I'm gonna live forever...light up the sky like a flame.]

Thanks to my new music search
you'll find me singing Rehab by Amy Winehouse or If This Ain't Love I Don't Know What Is by Nicole Willis and The Soul Investigators and feeling like a retro-soul, beehive hair-do wearin' sex-a-licious (every day from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.)

At 8:01 p.m. every night I turn into a booty-shakin' wild thing singing
Saturday Night by Ozomatli, and then I morph into a hot Latina sex goddess with wild, shaking hips and I sing Una Pagina Doblada or Represent by The Orishas.

And then I pass out from all the excitement because I am old.

And what songs are Alpha Dogma, QT, Not So Sage, Bon, Ruth, Wordgirl,
Greeblemonkey, Mamatulip, Queen of the House of Kaos, No Pasa Nada, Crouton Boy, Queeny and Akumamakiki listening to, pray tell?

Does anyone else want a cigarette at this point? (I don't actually smoke, but...)

FANTASTIC SEGUE TO NEXT LINKY THING!!!

Lara asked me to tell her five things she should know about me.

Dear Lara,

Here are the things you should know about me.

1.) I need a National Park Ranger Uniform for my husband. Any help you could provide on that front would be greatly appreciated.

2.) My son has an unusual name for one of his body parts.

3.) I am exceedingly flatulant.

4.) I excel at horizontal parenting.

5.) I am a huge dork.

Finally... I really appreciated this post. Flutter is the bravest of them all. Though I think I may have already done so, I declare her to be The Official Poet Laureate of this here blog.

He dicho.

Finger sore. Linkage exhaused. I can't eat another bite.

Just one thin mint?

My God, woman. Can you still move your fingers?

I remain in awe of your linking powers.

Good grief, you are a linkin Queen [with damaged digits] I only popped over on the offchance as I didn't think you posted often at the weekends.
Thank you.
Am I right in thinking that if the links are washed out blue, then I've already visited and if they're purple then they're new to me? [technically challenged person!]
Best wishes

You're not only generous to the "nice" folk, you're so funny! This post must have taken forever, but it was so entertaining!

THIS is why I chose you. And a good choice it was, friend.

And Flutter...that one has my heart. She amazes me, every day.

Go have that cookie...gotta keep the blood sugars up from all of that linking. And then get yourself to a LA meeting (linkers anonymous) stat.

Jordan said...

Oh, my word. How did you do that many links??? But thanks! Nice to be recognized for being nice.

Oh, and now I'm going to have to look for that music from the film "Once" because I loved that movie - it haunts me. And the music was amazing. Thanks for the tip!

It is official ... woman, you are crazy. Crazy-wonderful!

But please! Stop giving me new blogs to read! You are KILLING me!

Overwhelmingly wonderful, once again! Thanks for listing me as nice AND in your blogroll.
Next time I'm at Chaco I'll see if I can't pilfer a park ranger uniform for you...don't tell anyone.

Thanks for the Nice link love -- you are the linking maven, my dear, and we alove you for it.

I am in awe! You are my linky hero! And yes, that button is lovely, especially sitting on your blog because you deserve it so much!

acumamakiki said...

Hehe, just one thin mint...I love that movie.
Thank you for the linkage - I'm not sure you'd want to listen to what's on my IPod these days. Currently, I'm channeling my inner 14 y.o. teenaged boy and listening to a lot of supa-rock. Barring that music (because I know no one else really likes Incubus), I love Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and the New Pornographers. The National is great and I'm also loving Interpol's Heinrich Maneuver and play it over and over.

mamatulip said...

Holy crap. You must be in the advanced stages of rigor mortis after all that linking.

I love that you asked me what I've been listening to because I was just thinking the other day that I wanted to blog about music. When I do get that post together I will refer back to this Linking Masterpiece.

Have I told you lately how much I like you, by the way? I LIKE YOU. A lot.

major bedhead said...

Good lord. I bow to your linky prowess.

Here's a bucket, for after the mint.

flutter said...

Oh my crap, Jess! (How's that for poetic?). Thank you. Excellent choices on the linkage, and now I will have to write something special, just for you.

I feel like Maya Angelou!

jess said...

Oh, nice one Jess. Now you owe ME $7.99. I had to buy the whole album! Now I need to see the movie too.

You owe me many lost hours too with your linkinatrix ways. Sheesh, woman some of us have other things to do beside read all of the great blogs you introduce us to! I, for instance, have to FM ..whatever that is.

Wow, btw, I've been blogging for 2+ years and just put a very short blog roll up less than a month ago and here you are doing it in a single post.

You don't have ADD, do you.

All those links made me dizzy.

My dad always sings the bow-legged women song, along with
"From the Indies to the Andies in his undies,
And he never wore a tie except on Sundays."

I LOVED "ONCE". I ran home and looked at buying the soundtrack but the only think I wasn't sure of was the quality of the recording. Is it ok? Or is it like the movie and kinda like it was taped on a tape recorder?

The musician they had was amazing. She was "Eh" but he was so raw...WOW.
Loved it.

Mary Alice said...

Hey, it was really nice to come here today and find that I was on your nice list....especially after taking away someone's cell phone and having been told that I was not very nice at all. Sometimes being a mom makes me very tired!

The best link was to Flutter's site. Just an absolutely... stunning post by her.

I have a National Park Service shirt. It is grey with the brown patch on the sleeve. Excellent shape. Yours if you want it. But the brass shield does not come with it. Nor my name tag.

Thanks again for the linky love, woman! I will wear the button with honor. Cathy and Nell already gave it to me too and I was thinking about who I was going to pass it onto (and you were one of those people), but now you've saved me the trouble of linking to anyone as you've already linked to everyone in the known blogoverse (is that a word?) Now I think I will just link to this post and have everyone revel in your almighty linking powers.
