My friend Deana flew to town yesterday.
The last time she was here was right before The Rooster was born."The Rooster can be a little shy sometimes," I warned her.
Deana and I drove to the daycare center to pick up the kids.
When we got there they were all playing outside.
I went in to sign them out and Deana waited on a bench in the kid's play area.
When I came back out Deana was surrounded by a cluster of little girls including Roo.
As I came closer I heard The Rooster say,"I have monkeys on my butt. Wanna see?"
Then Rooster dropped her pants and showed her big girl undies to a complete stranger.
Clearly, she has no shame.
I can't imagine where she gets that from.
...and now Deana and I are off to Nashville to see Ani DiFranco. We're young, wild and freeeeeeeeeeee.
[At least for tonight.]

Ahhh! So jealous. Ani is so fantastic in concert.
My family and I are leaving for Nashville tomorrow. We're staying at the Opryland Hotel (yippee) and visiting a university my son wants to check out.

Grandma Seatte is so impressed that Roo is showing how much she appreciates her gift of monkey panties from her Grandma. Grandma Seattle is laughing because she is the one who told Roo that if she wore the monkey pants she would have a monkey butt! I can still hear her laughing. I can still see her picking out the "color of the day" and I can still hear her saying "monkey butt, monkey butt". I miss getting her hugs and kisses!

Maggie told her teacher that she wa swearing her day-of-the-week-panties. "Even though they say it's Tuesday, It's really Thursday. Mommy didn't look closely, I'm not wearing the same panties for DAYS"

Right now, my girl has a monkey on her tummy (courtesy of a Curious George tatoo cleverly hidden by her nana), and she'll show you, and demand that you tell her it's pretty. Since she'll already have her dress up, she'll probably also expect you to remark about her princess panties and tights. I'm working on, "Keep the dress down, Elle."
At least she didn't say she was going to Shoot monkeys Out of her butt.
